About this app

This is a utility app for browsing text files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer. You can check the content in various plain text files without opening with the editor.

How to use

Please execute "Setting.exe" from decompressed files. It requiers an administrator privileges because this is a file affecting to the system.

In "thumbnail", you specify a font and size of the text to display in Explorer. You can test how it will appear next to the right by entering any text in "Sample". By pressing "Apply" button, font settings are recorded in the registry.

Next, register an extension of files to which you want to apply the thumbnail. Please enter the extension("." is not required) to an entry field in "Register extension" and press "Register" button. If you want to stop displaying thumbnails, please enter an extension and press "Unregister" button.

Finally, press "Attach to system" button to register a thumbnail displaying program to the system. When "DLLRegisterServer in LookText.dll succeeded" was displayed, registration is complete.

To update thumbnails, update those files by overwriting a text or remove the Windows thumbnail cache. You can delete a cache by executing "cleanmgr" from the "Run" on the [Start] menu and selecting "Thumbnails" from the list to be deleted.

Uninstall

By pressing the "Detach from system" button on the setting window, this thumbnail displaying program will exclude from the system. When a success message is shown, please delete all the files.

Notice

I'm careful about developing programs, but I can't guarantee complete stability. It is unlikely to destroy the system but please backup regularly in order to avoid the emergency situation.
